Pure Problems end Synergy’s 3-year Softball winning streak

Three times VI Softball Baseball Association Women’s League champions Synergy, saw their 3-year winning streak come to an end on Friday night at the E. Walwyn Brawley Softball Park, during a 7-6 loss to Pure Problems.

Pure Problems took a 1-0 lead in the first, after Kyra Powell singled, and added another in the second after Synergy committed an error. Synergy scored four in the bottom of the third.  Darier Malone doubled, scoring one run; Claury Scatliffe tripled, scoring two runs Makeda Fahie was hit by a pitch, giving Synergy the 4-2 edge.

Pure Problems tied the game in the top of the fourth off an error and a single by Kaynesha Stoutt. An inside-the-park home run by Marisa Malone gave Synergy the lead, 5-4, in the bottom of the fourth.

Jheane Niles hit an inside-the-park home run, giving Pure Problems a 7-5 lead in the top of the fifth. Synergy added a run in the in the bottom of the inning, for the 7-6 final in favour of Pure Problems.

Pure Problems’ Che’vaunne Richardson got the victory after giving up eight hits, six runs over four innings, striking out two and walking two. Valissa Brathwaite got the save. Thea Cooke took the loss.  

Powell led Pure Problems with a 2-for-2 game.  Niles was 1-for-3 with 3 RBI’s. They went 1-for-3. Synergy’s Claury Scatliffe went 2-for-3 with three runs batted in and a run scored.

Slugfests

The other games were all slug fests. Power Outage scored 14 in the first and Jeremy Penn went 2-for-2 with 4 RBI’s, in leading them to a 19-0 rout of the Albion Hotshots.

VG Heat scored 15 in the second after seven in the first, to burn the Aces, 22-3.

Storm had five in the first, seven in the second and six in the third, en route to pounding the West Mobsters, 18-3.
